The OLYMPUS PEN Scottish Fashion Awards have announced today the shortlist for the event’s ‘Scottish Fashion Icon’ award, which will be presented at the 10th anniversary awards ceremony, which is being held on 3rd September in London’s Corinthia Hotel.

Dubbed the ‘Oscars of Scottish Fashion’ the stylish list reveals stars from music, film and theatre that have topped the industries most coveted shortlist.

The black tie ‘Highland Gathering’ will be hosted by TV personality Laura Whitmore and Founder Dr Tessa Hartmann with RT Hon David Mundell MP Secretary of State for Scotland.

With OLYMPUS PEN having been secured as the headline sponsor for this glittering gala, supported by Maserati and The British School of Fashion, the event is set to kick off fashion season in grand style when the great and the good of fashion descend upon London for one night only.

The awards ceremony provides an unrivalled platform for new and emerging Scottish talent and Scots working in fashion around the world. The finalists across all the other categories are judged by an exclusive panel made up of professionals from the world’s leading fashion houses, the most renowned and respected fashion publications and leading figures in style including Stella Tennant, Katie Grand, Rankin, Justine Picardie, Colin McDowell, Sara Maino, Jane Bruton and Hilary Alexander to name but a few.  However the ‘Scottish Fashion Icon’ award is the only category that will be judged by a public vote.

Tessa Hartmann said: “This is the only category where we can indulge in a little fun and salute Scotland’s most stylish characters. Throughout the year we monitor who is making waves on the red carpet, film, stage and screen. Remember it’s not just about what you wear, it’s about what surrounds us. Fashion is a barometer of our cultural identity and these nominee’s epitomize the present culture. These men can carry off bold stripes to storming colours, or black tie to unstructured jackets – and they’re still so cool!

“With regard to the ladies, we’ve been very impressed with actress and indeed newcomer to the list Joanna Vanderham. So it will  be a real tough call. Our wildcard is 19-year-old Conor Ball from The Vamps. There is no denying that this Aberdonian lad has literally thousands of teenage girls adoring his youthful rock look and given their fan base, he could swing it. Who knows – it’s the unpredictability that we love in this category.”

1.    Calvin Harris
2.    Karen Gillan
3.    Paolo Nutini
4.    Sam McTrusty
5.    Conor Ball
6.    Richard Madden

8.    Rose Leslie
9.    Gerard Butler
10. Sophie Kennedy Clark
